INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS
ARO's International Internship Program is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related experience to an individual’s field of study or career interest. Our internship give participants the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills.
HR PEOPLE OPERATIONS
People Operations Development is defined as a process where the employee, with the support of Abuse Refuge Org, undergoes various training programs, updates and development meetings to enhance his/her skills and acquire new knowledge and skills. Benefits of People Operations Development are vast.
HR ADMINISTRATION
The responsibilities of HR Administration falls into three major areas: staffing, People Operations compensation and benefits, and defining/designing work responsibilities. Essentially, the purpose of HRM is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its People Operations.
HR ONBOARDING OFFBOARDING
Onboarding is a HR industry term referring to the process of introducing a newly hired People Operations into an organization. Also known as organizational socialization, it's an important part of helping People Operations understand their new position and job requirements.
HR HIRING
HR Hiring locates the talent, then shares the best applicants (resumes, social profiles) to the hiring manager, allowing the HR Professional to select the applicants that they would like to see included in the interview process, and then from there HR conducts the primary screenings to make sure all skill and education requirements are met.

BFOQ
ARO’s Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) at present, limits and restricts qualified males to any of our programs or hiring. Due to the female oriented nature of abuse, divulgence and culture, we currently maintain separation of select (male) genders until later integration via our LBGTQIA+ and an additional select Male Branch of Operations. ARO is launching a “Male Only” branch of the company in the near future. Formal announcements of our BFOQ expansion and structure will be published on our website. We do not discriminate based on gender, we are simply not equipped or sufficiently financed to pursue this phase of business until the Female Branch is thoroughly vetted and mature. Male Component
Our future plans include a principal Male Component within ARO and a variety of Paid Positions. Abuse Refuge Org (ARO) is an equal opportunity employer and a well established Volunteer Platform. HR Department Hierarchy
The Human Resources Element at Abuse Refuge Org, is comprised of five Departments including Hiring, Onboarding and Offboarding, Administration, People Operations and International Internships. Together these teams oversee the flow of volunteers from the moment of application, during their time with ARO, and through the time they complete their Volunteership. Additionally, the Training & Development Department shall lead the International Internship Program coincidental with HR.
Onboarding & Offboarding
HR Professionals Meticulously On & Offboard ARO Personnel

From the time that an offer letter is sent to a candidate and returned signed, the onboarding team works to get the proper documentation to begin creating a folder on the candidate. They will collect an array of documents including the general application, non-disclosure agreement, indemnity agreement, and volunteer expectations. The onboarding team also ensures that the volunteer is added to the correct Slack and Asana channels and receives their ARO email log in credentials. They set up all new volunteers with the necessary Google Classroom and Asana Basics trainings.

In the event an ARO volunteer resigns, the members of the offboarding team conduct the process of removing them from all platforms. If the volunteer is staying on board in a reduced capacity as an ARO Staff Champion, a member of the offboarding team will send them an email welcoming them to that reduced role.

ADMINISTRATION
Administration ensures proper records maintenance & upkeep.

The Administrative Department of Human Resources covers areas of proper documentation and corporate alignment. They oversee the construction of People Operations files ensuring that they are meeting regulations as well as keep the ARO Volunteer Handbook up to date with existing and new policies. Any People Operations contracts, new hire guides, Google or Asana files that need to be updated are done in this area of the department..

Their role is to keep records and maintain internal HR databases while also responding to People Operations’ queries related to HR issues and resolving issues as they arise.

HIRING
Charged With Interviewing, Hiring & Selection.

The  Hiring Department handles the recruiting and interview portion of the hiring process. Within the hiring team a group of volunteers work to manage the various chosen job boards posting current job openings as well as sorting through applicants that come through recruitment platforms and via email. The recruiters schedule interviews with each qualified candidate and conduct the interview process.

Our members are the driving force for the growth and success of ARO and we thrive to create a culture where everyone can be their best.

Once a candidate is selected for the role, the recruiter forwards an offer letter and transfers them to the onboarding team..

People Operations
Responsible For People Operations Retention & Program Development.

The core values of the People Operations Department stem from commitment to breathe more life into the human-centered processes to support every member in a way that equips them to be as happy and productive as possible. Our departmental goal is to optimize member experience by coordinating across all the functions that touch a member’s lifecycle at ARO and using workforce analytics to make data driven decisions.

The People Operations Team is dedicated to constantly developing and iterating simple people processes, strategies, policies, and programs to support the growth, engagement, and retention of our members.
